A Colorful Life
Starting Over: A Life Full of Stories Worth Telling
I’ve decided to start over with this blog—not by erasing what I’ve posted before, but by shifting my focus and truly trying this time. In many ways, I haven’t put my full energy into blogging before, but the truth is, I don’t have much else going on right now. This blog is my way of reconnecting with the world, even if not many people comment. It’s a space to share my journey, my stories, and my reflections on a life that has been anything but ordinary.
Who I Am: The Basics You Don’t Know About Me
There are things about me that most people probably don’t know. For example, I was once a Wolf Cub and a Boy Scout, something that might surprise people who know me from the punk music scene. In high school at Humberside Collegiate Institute, I was the youngest-ever president of the student council—a milestone I was proud of then and still am today. That role eventually led me to the Toronto Board of Trade, where I was part of shaping ideas and discussions that impacted the city.
Over the years, I’ve also been a businessman. I’ve started and run many companies and corporations, and I’ve always taken pride in the fact that my music was released on our own labels—whether it was BrainCo Worldwide, Meg Entertainment, the Canadian Media Development Company, or Guild Records, where John Gundy was the executive producer. I’ve always been someone who took initiative, whether it was in music, business, or leadership.
The Colorful and Challenging Moments
My life has been full of stories worth sharing. I’ve seen and lived through things most people only read about. For example, I was in Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots—a chaotic and unforgettable experience that left a mark on me. And then there are the darker stories, like being kidnapped on Yorkville Avenue, something that could have ended my life but instead became a turning point in how I saw the world.
Why This Blog Matters to Me
I’m at a point in my life where I’m rebuilding from the ground up. For years, I’ve lived in the shadows of injustice, personal loss, and overwhelming challenges. But I’ve decided it’s time to reclaim my story. This blog is a way for me to do that. It’s not just about revisiting the past—it’s about using those experiences to move forward, to connect, and to remind myself (and maybe others) that it’s never too late to start over.
What can you expect from this blog? Honesty, first and foremost. I’ll share the highs and lows of my life—from the music career that brought me joy to the battles that nearly broke me. I’ll write about the legal and personal struggles I’m navigating now, as well as the creative rediscovery I’m pursuing. It’s a mix of reflection, reinvention, and resilience.
What I Want This Blog to Be
I know not many people comment, and that’s okay. This blog isn’t just about hearing from others—it’s about finding my own voice again. Still, if you’re reading this, I want you to know you’re welcome here. Whether you’re curious about my life, going through your own challenges, or just looking for something real, I hope you’ll find something meaningful in my words.
I’ve lived a life full of contradictions—success and failure, joy and pain, recognition and obscurity. But through it all, I’ve learned that the only way forward is to keep trying, to keep sharing, and to keep connecting. This blog is my way of doing that.
So here’s to starting over, with a fresh perspective and an open heart. Thank you for reading. Let’s see where this journey takes us.
