Ermie Has Feelers! What about my Mother?
The opening track to my 1980 LP. Fun fact: I wrote " Ermie is a pauper and his mother was a whore. All their stinking lives they were always very poor." What I wanted to say...and should have recorded: "Ermie is a pauper and his mother ran a store." That's what I sang live. People get the wrong impression perhaps. They think The Life of Ermie Scub is autobiographical and perhaps it is in a subconscious way. But I didn't grow up poor and didn't wind up indigent until my own mother indeed did die when I was 45.We were an affluent family and my mother was a beacon of morality. Perhaps some of you recall the replicant in Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) when asked about his mother. Those who know know. P.S. I'm a big Philip K. Dick fan.
