Ermie Has Feelers! What about my Mother?

Image
The opening track to my 1980 LP. Fun fact: I wrote " Ermie is a pauper and his mother was a whore. All their stinking lives they were always very poor." What I wanted to say...and should have recorded: "Ermie is a pauper and his mother ran a store." That's what I sang live. People get the wrong impression perhaps. They think The Life of Ermie Scub is autobiographical and perhaps it is in a subconscious way. But I didn't grow up poor and didn't wind up indigent until my own mother indeed did die when I was 45.We were an affluent family and my mother was a beacon of morality. Perhaps some of you recall the replicant in Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) when asked about his mother. Those who know know. P.S. I'm a big Philip K. Dick fan.

The Resurrection of John Paul Young

The Resurrection of John Paul Young & Cardboard Brains: The Lost Punk Classic Returns FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For decades, John Paul Young & Cardboard Brains have remained an enigma—one of Toronto’s most influential yet under-documented punk and post-punk acts, a band whose cult status has only grown in the shadows. Known for their raw energy, theatrical performances, and genre-defying sound, they shared the stage with the likes of The Screamers, Bauhaus, and The Stranglers, leaving an indelible mark on Canada’s underground music scene. Despite their international reach, their music has been nearly impossible to find—until now. In a long-overdue move, John Paul Young is officially reissuing a definitive compilation CD that collects his most significant recordings, including lost tracks that have never been heard before. More than a simple re-release, this marks a reclamation of his legacy, a statement that the music—and the artist behind it—deserves its ri...

The Kidnapping of John Paul Young.

The Kidnapping of John Paul Young: A Case Study in Systemic Failure and Concealed Conspiracy Introduction: A Crime Ignored, A Life Dismantled On the evening of July 2, 2002, celebrated musician and actor John Paul Young became the victim of a violent and premeditated abduction in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto, a neighborhood synonymous with affluence and security. What should have been an unthinkable crime in such a setting became a disturbing reality, yet the authorities, presented with indisputable evidence, failed to act. The kidnapping itself was harrowing—a violent ambush, an escape engineered by psychological ingenuity, and a police response that was not merely incompetent, but suspiciously indifferent. However, what followed in its wake raises even graver questions. Within two months, Young would find himself ensnared in a series of six false arrests, leading to the total dismantling of his career, his reputation, and his legal and financial standing. Was this ...

(Note: If this were an actual academic or legal submission, citations from case law, human rights reports, and legal studies on wrongful prosecution would be included.) John Paul Young: A Case Study in Judicial Misconduct, Artistic Resilience, and the Quest for Justice Abstract This paper examines the life and career of John Paul Young, a Canadian artist known for his contributions to music and film, whose professional trajectory was irrevocably altered by a protracted legal ordeal stemming from judicial misconduct, malicious prosecution, and systemic failure. This case study details Young’s rise to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s as a musician, actor, and voice artist, his catastrophic fall into homelessness and repeated false imprisonment, and his ongoing efforts to reclaim his legacy and pursue legal redress. Through an analytical lens, we explore the interplay between systemic abuse of power, legal recourse, and the resilience required to survive prolonged institutionalized injus...
